Review: you know, I don't usually post on these websites, but I definitely use them when searching for an apartment. I have lived at the gelmarc for 1.5 years now, and I felt compelled to finally write something, as I see so many horrid reviews on here. The truth about websites like these–90% of the time, people don't take the time to write things when everything is okay and there are no problems…but the people that do have problems will —– like crazy. I have had no problems at the Gelmarc in 1.5 years…and I think potential tenants should know there are a whole bunch of us who are happy to be here…my feeling is that the few (or maybe one person who keeps posting as others) that are so negative are taking out anger against the management because maybe they can't afford their rent, or had an isolated issue or incident, and are lashing out in this way hoping to get revenge. In any case, the bottom line is, the building is in a fantastic location, so close to many bars and restaurants, walking to dupont metro, and has parking. No, it is not the Ritz Carlton, nor do they charge ritz-carlton prices…but it is a clean and safe building in an a location…
Bottom line: I can seriously say I have had far fewer problems living here in 1.5 years than I have had in any of the 5 years of renting in 3 different buildings in DC.

Review: As somebody else mentioned. Before I signed the lease I told them that I want to live only for six months. I moved in in January and had to start my MBA studies in August. I explained my situation to the leasing office lady and she told me that it is OK in my case to move out earlier if I find someone else. Then I should get my 00 deposit back. When I moved out the leasing office the lady told me that I will get the deposit in the mail. Well, I could not see my check anywere close to me. Later I contacted the Gelmarc main manager and he literally told me: “—- off!!!!!!!!!!! Go to court if you want to, I am not giving you money”. I called leasing office lady to confirm what she said before I moved in “that I will get my deposit back” but instead she replied that she can not recall the details. They literally stole 00 from me because they know if I go to court it will cost me much more.
One more thing. I usually do not talk about dead people, but in this case I am very upset about all deposit situation. Be careful: I think almost in every apartment somebody died. So it is very uncomfortable to live in there. Only after signing my lease I found out that in my apartment somebody PASSED AWAY JUST BEFORE I MOVED IN. Later I found out that GIRL WAS KILLED at the other apartment. and my neighbor had the same thing SOME TIME AGO SOMEBODY PAST AWAY IN HIS APARTMENT. It just MAKES THAT UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING WHEN IT GETS DARK AND YOU WANT TO SLEEP. be careful were you move in because you can be in one of those apartments.

Review: First of all I lived there untill my lease ended according to management, byt still did not get my deposit back and its been over the half year now. Overall this place is crap. I had my friends staying over and they were so scared when they saw cocrouches in my place. They were so affraid to bring it home with them. It was fine with me because i am used to them so its not that bad. The one thing that management did not tell me before i moved in was a killing of a poor girl. Someone stabed her in this building so it was little scary.

Review: Gelmarc Towers has a great location in Adams Morgan. I lived here for over a year before moving to start school. The rent was fairly cheap (50 for a one bedroom with all utilities included) and we could walk to the metro and any place in adams morgan or dupont circle. The biggest problem was parking. It costs an extra 0 a month to park in the garage or you have to park on the street. It was hard finding street parking at night and I got a lot of parking tickets. But, other than that I REALLY liked the apartment and the view we had from our living room. I definitely recommend the building for people who want to live in the hippest part of DC.

Review: You can’t beat the location, but the building is very old. While the management does all they can to keep up with deterioration, plumbing, appliances and elevators are always breaking down. The largest complaint is the A/C which is supposed to be central air, but does not cool the units below 80 in the summer. The staff is friendly and nice and the building is kept clean and secure.
