Review: I am a current resident of PLB and have been wronged one to many times. I have created a facebook group called People Against Park La Brea Apts. If you have been wronged by them before join my group and tell your story / post pictures. ALL THE MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED! If we get enough people telling their story we can make this happen.

Review: I am not the kind of person who has high expectations for my living situations. There's a lot of stuff I will put up with. Park La Brea has the rare honor of pushing my patience and sanity to the brink. I am moving out of this place by the end of the month. Here's why:
1. It's noisy. Not only are the walls thin (I can hear my neighbors turning on their faucets — it creates a very alarming screeching sound), but you can hear all the fantastic sounds of life such as piano playing at 10 PM, people shouting at each other in the parking lots, and babies crying and screaming. Despite it all, I can stand this.
2. The maintenance people don't give a crap. I've had many, MANY encounters with them. They come, leave a note (actually giving you proof that they stayed and worked for 5 minutes tops), and peace out. Whatever. I can stand this.
3. Maintenance issues abound. I've been here for two and a half months. I've had: A/C leak, roof leaks, dishwasher leaks, fire alarm going off at 2 AM for no reason, and so on. Fine. I'll deal with this.
4. The last thing — the ONE thing I cannot handle — is the roaches. Not singular. Not just a couple here and there. Many. A colony, if you will. We're not dirty. And it's not just our apartment. It's our BUILDING, according to the letter we got from PLB. They fumigated. Told us to wait. It got worse by a lot. Told them to come again. They came and left a roach motel. Thanks. You got maybe 5% of them. Now we only have, oh, 15 crawling around the kitchen floor instead of the usual 20. There's a Youtube video if you search for Park La Brea that demonstrates the issue very clearly, though for us, a little too late.
DO NOT move here. You'd be paying to live in hell. I don't care if you're poor or can't afford better housing. You're better off in a shabby hole in the wall because it's the same conditions for less money.

Review: Park La Brea…don't get tempted to move in here by its outer beauty. Because once you move in, you are in a hell. You will have to live with mouses and flies. I had 2 mouses found in my garden apartment and the pest control folks found few open holes in the apartment. I don't expect such quality after paying 00 rent. Its the worst place ever. Even the lesser priced apartments are much better than this. The maintenance staff takes weeks or even months to service maintenance complaints. To meet anyone at leasing office, you need to make appointments which takes days. Basically there are 4200 apartments, but the staff for everything here is meagre, so all the issues crop up. Tower apartments are more pathetic, the laundry area has 12 washers compared to 144 tenants in each building. You have to queue up to wash clothes. There are only 2 elevators in tower of 144 apartments. Most of the times, 1 elevator does not work. The trash area in the tower is near the laundry area and its pathetic to pass from that place everytime u do laundry. people steal your laundry clothes, if u don't pick them on time. Its the most pathetic apartment ever and I hate this place and would recommend anyone thinking about moving here, to think twice about the future problems.

Review: From Sept 2006 until I finally moved out of this apartment in May 2009, I had at least 12 rats running around in my apartment, and many more living in the walls, making noises. The exterminators would come and set traps all over and I would have to live with traps and with dead, or sometimes living, rats, caught in the traps. Finally, some rats appear to have died in the walls (when the furnace came on, I could smell the rat burning), and this brought in swarms of flies. These flies were huge because they were obviously living off the dead rats in the walls. The flies were swarming throughout my apartment until I finally had to move out a couple of weeks before my lease ended because the apartment was uninhabitable. Throughout all this, Park La Brea refused to compensate me for periods of time when I had to move out while rats were in my apartment. They also demanded that I pay rent for the 2 weeks left on my lease after I was forced to move out. At this point, they were apparently tired of my "complaints," and treated me like a nuisance. They did not seem to think that a rat and fly infested apartment was such a problem. One manager stated, "well, this is California, what do you expect." Prior to living in this apartment, I lived in another Park La Brea apartment that was infested with roaches and water bugs. Living in Park LaBrea has some good points, but overall it was a nightmare for me and, worst of all, nobody seemed to care.

Review: I can imagine a worse place to live than Park La Brea. The Garden Apartments have appliances from the 1950's that constantly break down. The maintenance staff are slow to respond to requests and they never do a good job. I have had almost 50 service requests in less than a year. The worst issue we have had is with cockroaches. We have had pest control come out on 3 separate occassions and we are still finding bugs all over the place. Please stay far away from this place. Don't let the killer location get in the way of your better judgement.
