Review: I really dont understand what people are talking about in there reviews of this place especially the one talking about people being "white trash" how racist, ignorant, and judgemental is that? If you have loud neighbors, tell them or the leasing office dont just complain about it! When I lived there the office staff was just absolutely awesome. They were kind, helpful, and made living there awesome. The pool was awesome and having a 24 hour gym/sauna was great. Now they were really bad about fixing the sauna and gym equipment when it broke but overall it was awesome. The apartment was great, well kept, looked great. We had no problems with noisy neighbors or anything bad happening. I'd live here again in a minute

Review: Fox & Hounds has everything going for it, except for the people. The people who live here are what most people call "white trash". They walk around without shirts on sitting on the porches, all the while screaming and yelling about nothing. This has gotten to the point where my friends don't even want to come over let alone walk up my stairs, due to the trashy people that live here. I can't wait until my lease is up, so I can move away from these classless people.

Review Date: 10/1/2008
Review: The main problems with Fox and Hounds are:
1. Noise: Near by railway track. Noise of railway is really problematic, mainly during summer time when people need to keep their windows open. Noisy neighbor is another menace and management does not seem to bother about that.
2. Sublease and lease breaking: If you need to leave the apartment for some unforeseen reason (change of job, or transfer etc) during your lease term, Fox and hounds management will make your life hell. They do not allow mid term lease breaking even if you arrange a suitable sub-lease party. They will force you to pay full term payment, till your lease expires (not 2-3 months rent).
3. Service: Service is not upto the mark. Gymnasium is too crowded, noisy and badly maintained. Broken equipments are not repaired for long.
4. Hot water in laundry for washing clothes: You will never get warm or hot water in laundry to wash your clothes even though you have to pay the same charge (that includes cost of warm/hot water).
5. Problems after you left: Once you leave the apartment after 3 years of stay, they will charge you good amount of money in the pretext of “fogging” (to clear cooking “odor”) and cleaning the carpet. This is a real problem for all those who prefer Asian food.
Considering the monthly rent they charge, you can have a much better apartment in Columbus, even near OSU campus.

Review Date: 10/28/2007
Review: Can hear upstairs neighbours walking around as insulation is pretty bad. Some cars got broken into and the office staffs did not do anything to improve security in the apartment complex. The rent is pretty descent and it is on the busline, which makes it convenient to go downtown or shopping center (Mall at Tuttle Crossing). Maintenance guys are very good and fix things in a timely manner. Management staffs are friendly and nice. Overall you are getting what you pay for. Just make sure that you try to get a second floor apartment and get the apartment far from the railroads/trains. They are also pretty good at refunding the deposit at the end if you clean up the apartment properly.

Review Date: 9/6/2006
Review: Overall my experience was good. Maintenance issues were very few and minor, but always promptly fixed. I would recommend paying the little extra for an upstairs apartment because you can hear the people above you just walking around or the mattress squeaking when they get in and out. Also, beware of move in specials because after our one year lease our rent went up over 0 a month because technially our first year lease was a “special.” That was essentially the only reason we left.

Saw Mill Village Apartments in Columbus, OH Aparment Reviews

Saw Mill Village Apartments
6900 Saw Mill Village Drive
Columbus, OH 43235

Review Date: 11/24/2009
Review: There are so many negatives about this apartment that I can fill pages:

1. It is infested with bugs; particularly the carpet is very old/filthy and full of ‘Bed Bugs’.

2. The parking is limited and if you are late in the evening, you would have to park 2/3 blocks from your building. It is a pain particularly during winters! Moreover, you would be towed if you/your guest do not have a parking sticker (be ready to 0, apart from the pain).

3. The water charges are arbitrary and you are not given the breakdown about the amount, when asked about it. The charges may range from – (2BR), which is far more that – you may usually get and moreover, most apartments have them included in their rent!

4. They also charge for trash (which they don’t disclose it upfront).

5. If you unfortunately want to go on month-to-month you would pay 0 extra, which is ridiculous.

6. I basically liked the apartment because of the indoor pool facility, but it was closed for renovation for most part of winter. I learnt that the health department failed it because of the poor quality of water and pool.

7. The lake is OK, but the walkway is full of poop.

8. The appliances, I guess are at least 2 decades old, so be ready to get electricity bills of 0+. In some months I got bills of 0 or more.

9. The worst is the staff and in particular the leasing manager – No customer service and difficult in dealing with them!

I was slapped with a huge arbitrary ‘move-out charge’ because I complained all of the above and on top of that it was reported as collection to credit reporting agencies (as past due for 3 month), without they even sending the notice. It was a nightmare which went for almost 3-4 weeks and finally management agreed because they had no proof and also sent the correction notices credit reporting agencies (for reinstatement). The same story happened with couple of my friend who lived in that apartment, but they paid because it was reported on their credit and were afraid to fight back.

Please….Please be careful when you move in this apartment! I bet you will find better apartments at cheaper/comparative prices.

Good luck in your find!!

Review: I can't wait to leave Sawmill Village Apartments. The management is horrible, they have no clue how to maintain good customer service. I have been a great tenant there for a couple of years, and there are no incentives to stay, they only find ways to raise prices and screw you over. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone.

Review Date: 7/21/2008
Review: While the facilities are very nice, the management is horrible! They were always extremely rude. Without warning, I was charged extra expenses that were not explained to me when I signed my lease. Moving out was a total hassle. If you move here, I highly recommend you DO NOT paint. I was told they would give me the paint to return the walls to their original color. After all, they expected me to buy this extremely expensive paint. They were very very rude about my move expenses. If you want a place that is willing to work with you and actually be kind to you, this is not the place.

Review: When my roommate and i signed our lease, we had specific concerns from our last apartment that we rented that we didnt want to have repeated. such as adequate parking, not noisy, deck, fireplace, safe community, and nice office staff. well, for the most part a lot of those were available to us. we did get a deck, which is very nice on those summer nights when you want to have some time to relax. also there is plenty of storage available. the noise only became an issue when the children across the hall got out of school. i work 2nd shift, so at 8 am they were screaming at the top of their lungs. and i’m not just saying that lightly, and yes, i had all the windows in the apt. closed and my bedroom door was shut and i could still hear the buggers. fireplace was nice though, there is no gas fireplace on the 3rd floor though (we weren’t told that till i asked). most of the time i felt safe.. but it started to become an increasing problem starting about the 5th month we lived there. as mentioned prior, i work 2nd shift, so i don’t get home till around 1130 or 12 some nights. parking was NEVER available and sometimes i ended up parking about 1/2 mile away from my apt. the parking along the treeline is not well lit and i felt very unsafe walking late at night. after explaining my problem to the office in a sincere letter with my rent check, they did call us back and advise that they will keep an eye on our apartment to ensure that parking is watched to make sure that people who actually live there are parking in front of the apts, not just random people who are sleeping over on a regular basis. after that it has seemed to get better. sometimes the office staff is nice and sometimes not. they often get very snappy with you if you call them up regarding any sort of issue you have. i have a feeling they are making sure they make note of it in their file. and they are very quick to put that notice on your door if you(for whatever reason or amount) are late on your bill or accidentally put the wrong amount on. they are not lenient with the billing policy at all and advise that they will take you to court within 10 days of nonpaymnt. there are still some little things that have not been fixed yet, but overall, i found that our electricity bills were reasonable (compared to the last apt we had), gas bills weren’t high, and i didnt’ feel the other charges on the bills each month were different from the other place we lived at before. i suppose it’s an ok place to live, but i don’t think it’s worth the 800/mo we spend on the 2bed/2bath apt. time at apt is 2006-2007

Review: I lived here with my husband for two years. The office staff is clueless about how to run the place and not nice when you have an issue. They take pleasure in other people’s misery. They lost our rent check on three different occasions and filed an eviction notice one month. I have a summons to appear in court on my record. They eventually found it after we provided proof each time. We had three cars and garaged one of them at an extra cost of /month. You are allowed to use up 2 parking spots. The women in the office had my car towed one nite without warning and would not refund my towing costs. I felt harassed living here. They said we were allowed 2 cars per unit. I argued that I payed extra to have one of them in my own garage but they didn’t care. They enjoy being miserable nasty people. I knew we woud be in for it when we moved out. We left the apartment cleaner than we found it. AEC–the company that owns the place, sent me a bill for 00. They lost our move-in checklist where you mark down problems with the place when you move in. Of course we couldn’t find a copy of ours after we moved out. They claimed we didn’t pay rent our next to last month we were there and trumped up a bunch of hoaky charges and late fees. I have never had a renting exerience like this ever. I think it is b/c I worked at an apartment complex nearby and the women at the office saw me as competition or something. Even though crappy things kept happening to us, I was always nice and civil to them. Their vendictive and immature behavior left a nice mark on my credit report. Beware if you rent here. Oh, and the outdoor hottub worked the first month and a half we were there and was not repaired yet when we moved out. One positive thing I can say is the maintenance guys were nice and extremely prompt.

Kohr Royer Griffith in Columbus, OH Aparment Reviews

Kohr Royer Griffith
1232 Neil Ave Aot A
Columbus, OH 43291

Review Date: 2/2/2010
Review: This company is very slow to fix anything. They make promises to do repairs and never show up. They enter your apartment without permission. They give out parking passes for personal parking spaces, then give more away than they provide in spaces (resulting in long drives around campus to find parking). All around, they do the bare minimum to stay within the lease. Don't do it.

Review Date: 9/29/2009
Review: Were it not for the convenience, I wouldn't live in 80 W. Lane Ave.
The leasing agents were the worst ever!!!!

1. Safety–? awful. the front door lock is broke for several months. a lot of residents complained about it yet KRG ignore it for months.

2. Office staff–? so unprofessional. they don't understand what does customer service mean. they are irresponsible too. i moved out one month ago. they promise that I will receive within one month yet they just send out the check at the end of the month. AND they send the check in bulk mail without any tracking information. If the check is lost, they say they won't take any responsibility.
I can't be more dissappointed with the leasing office.

The fact KRG can remain in competition is that there are limited housing around campus. But that won't last long, i think.

Review Date: 8/8/2006
Review: I hated renting from KRG! I think that I may have talked to my leasing agent twice and that was when she was trying to get me to sign the lease. After that–nothing. The plumbing in my apartment was awful, and when I called they’d send someone to unclog it, but never did anything to prevent it from happening again the next day. This is a big problem when it is a one bathroom apartment! When I moved in the apartment was covered in dirt and dust. It took me an entire weekend to clean it. Half of the blinds/shades she promised were missing–including the one in the bathroom.

There were a lot of little things that made me unhappy, but I think the main issue I had was with the complete lack of communication. I could never, ever get through to anyone. No one called me back and no one returned my emails.

Review Date: 10/23/2005
Review: We lived in one of their apartments on Neil Ave for 3 years. It is a great location but there is absolutely no parking. Fighting to get a spot on Neil Ave is a major pain.

Maintenance was the worst. We complained for 3 years that the plaster ceilings were starting to cave in but they never bothered to come and fix them. When we were moving out a 1′ square section of the kitchen ceiling fell down exposing the lathes. Thank god I wasn’t in the kitchen when it fell or I would have probably had a concussion.

During the summer of ‘02 painters came through to paint the outside of the windows. They painted most of the windows in the apartment shut including the one with a fan in it. We had a sun room and when they painted those windows they did such a poor job of scrapping off the old paint that they wouldn’t shut. We called once a week for a full year before they came out and fixed the problems with the windows. We went through an entire winter with half the windows open because they wouldn’t shut. That plastic they sell in the store to help insulate windows doesn’t cut it when the window won’t close all the way.

The electric in the building was atrocious. The building was built in the 1890’s and they never upgraded the wiring, according to the maintanence man. We couldn’t keep a light bulb alove longer than a week.

Our kitchen sink clogged on a Wednesday. I promptly called the office to have someone come fix it. Tuesday of the next week someone showed up. I called everyday between when the problem started and someone finally showed up. Everyday I was told someone would be out that afternoon.

The apartment we were in wasn’t insulated at all so you couldn’t keep it cool in the summer and our winter gas bills were outragous, ie 0 – 0, just from trying to keep the apartment at 65 degrees.

Review Date: 1/25/2005
Review: This review is in regards to the Kohr Royer Griffiths agency, rather than my individual unit as they manage many units throughout Columbus. I have had an unusually good experience as their tennant. All concerns were resolved promptly and I was even cut a 0 check for inconveince with a plumbing issue. Can’t say the same about any other agency in the area! They are respectful of my privavy, rent is reasonable and they didn’t raise it when I renewed my lease. My apartment is dated and I won’t be staying another year…but I’ll be staying with KRG.

University Area Rentals
1439 N High St
Columbus, OH 43201

Review Date: 6/30/2007
Review: They started showing the apartment on a regular basis 3 months after I moved in on a 1 year lease.

The heater and water heater are so inefficient that my gas bill is 3 times what it was in my last house, which was more than 3 times bigger.

The ceiling has been falling in ever since I moves in. The maintenance guy refuses to admit there is a problem.

My vehicle has been vandalized 3 times.

Review Date: 1/23/2007
Review: Don’t let the roominess of the apartments persuade you to live here!! The neighboorhood is not safe; the bar, although convienent, will prevent you from ever getting a good night’s sleep, and the maintenance is unresponsive (note: 24-hour maintenance phone line…more like 24-months; we went a week without having a door knob for the front door). It’s cheap, it’s roomy, but for the love of goodness it’s NOT worth it!!

Review Date: 1/23/2007
Review: Security: After complaints for 6 months, the front door still does not lock so come on it! Doors ALWAYS open. Also, it took 4 requests for them to fix my apartment door lock as well. It’s a slighty shady neighborhood with alot of sketchy people walking around. Parking: Usually always spaces, but there is a man that will leave notes on your car or wait by your car to tell you not to park in ‘his’ spot. Appearance/Upkeep: Apartments are cute but the outside of the building could use some work to make it look livable. Management and Officed Staff: Lady in the office is nice; maintenance people don’t do anything all day and cut corners on everything possible, so again, safety is an issue. Management – on the three instances that I had to call the emergency maintenance 1) the number was out of service 2) correct number, but no one ever got back to me so I was withough electricity 3) the mailbox was full so I couldn’t leave a message so I had no heat. Condition: Older building so some things are expected. The apartment was not cleaned AT ALL when moved in (my cleaning water was black just after wiping the cupboards, cigarette ashes were everywhere, garbage in cupboards, tiles in bathroom laying around). Also, the old tenant had left belongings in closet and on porch and it took at least a month for them to dispose of it. Noise level: At this particular unit I’m by the bar, so there’s noise until 230am, along with noise of people walking around all the time, occasionally scary yelling; traffic noise from High St and alot of sirens. Overall: They aren’t good with upkeep and requests and safety concerns. They don’t address issues when brought up multiple times and don’t return phone calls. Don’t live here.

Review Date: 6/29/2004
Review: These people are crooks! They never fixed my window or my front door locks. My electricity went off repeatedly with no explanation. Worst of all, when I moved out and didn’t want to take some of my furniture, I asked the people in the rental office if they wanted it. I made sure to ask if I could just leave it in the apartment and they said yes. Then, they turned around and charged me a 0 fee for leaving things in the apartment AFTER they took the furniture! DO NOT RENT WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Review Date: 1/24/2003
Review: Small apartment, but affordable. Nice size closets. No eatting area. Drafty door. Lease does not allow any pictures to be nailed into wall.

Review: Note they wont fix anything! They will enter your apartment/home (without 24 hr notice) to fix things that they say are broken, Yet they cant see that are broken without entering your home.. Yet Items mentioned at move in (7 months ago) still arent fixed..But they love to say "fixed this", and charge you..or add to your rental account, But god forbid, you have been 7 months with heat/ac that isnt accurate, (only works if you set thermostat on 80 degrees, causing excessive electric bills -400 a month) or cabinet doors that fall off , breaking dishes, bowls, damaging counter tops, That when you move they will try and charge you for..

Review Date: 2/4/2010
Review: Moved in month ago and so far its good …

Review: I looked at a two bedroom apartment at this complex. Two weeks later I put in a security deposit for a two bedroom apartment. I gave a move-in date of September 26 and 27. I was informed by the property manager that my keys would be available on the 26th, when I would sign the lease and pick up my keys. After spending weeks packing, and making general moving arrangements, including submitting a change of address, I arrived on the 26th, the apartment I was to move into was not ready for me. The leasing consultant contacted the manager who replied they had no knowledge of the situation. The rental office could only offer one solution: to change the date of my move. My arrangements including a moving van, individuals to assist and time off of work. Altering the date was not an option at this point. It also bears mentioning the unit I selected was empty when I paid the deposit. As of the 26th, the unit had not been cleaned, painted or in any other way prepared. The office had erroneously notated my move-in date as the 30th. They did not have the unit scheduled to be cleaned until the 28th. Given the proposed schedule, neither the carpets nor walls would not have had time to dry.
Since that time I have made numerous attempts to have my deposit returned. I was informed by a unconcerned, unprofessional office manager that my deposit was forfeited. Now, I can understand to a point the complex keeping the part of the deposit used to hold the unit. The other half, however, was an actual deposit on a unit I never got. This after having spent weeks un-doing the arrangements I had made, including re-connecting utilities and spending a month trying to get my mail re-directed. I also had several friends who lost wages by taking valuable time off work to assist me.
Having said this, I feel this complex owes me more than the deposit for the stress and inconvenience this has caused. At the very least, an apology is in order. My attempts to get contact information for their corporate office was flat-out refused by the property manager.

Review: I just moved into a 2 bedroom and I love it! It is so nice! I read all of the reviews and do not see how they are true. My apartment was perfect! I am not saying they aren't true I am just saying with the people that I have met I don't see it happening. I am going through a divorce and the office staff was very helpful through this time! I would recommend this community to everyone! The only complaint I have at the moment would be noise from the kids above. But that is what I expected coming to an apartment.

Review Date: 6/13/2009
Review: We rented a 3 bedroom townhouse and were not able to see the unit until the day before we moved in. We were told we had to wait for the cleaning crew, which left nails laying all over the floors in every room. The carpet was dingy as was most of the apartment. In one of the bedrooms upstairs we kept smelling something disgusting for months only to discover it was urine soaked carpets. The pet policy is not enforced. It clearly says in the lease that pets are to be taken out on a leash (not to be put on a chain) and cleaned up after. Our neighbor did not bother to read these rules or follow them. He would tie out his 3 dogs (the lease states only one pet is allowed) on a chain and let them use my yard as a toilet. One of their dogs would come to my window and growl at my 3 year old. I went to the office 3 times about this and they told me they would send the neighbor a letter. Yes a letter will fix everything!! NOT!!! The pond that is considered a view, is the home to about 15-20 geese who will use your grass as a toilet and chase you into your house. During the summer we could not take our 3 year old outside because every single inch of grass outside was covered with
goose droppings! I am not kidding! Every inch!! I regretted the decision to move in to this disgusting apartment every moment of everyday. I am not a clean freak but I felt like no matter how hard I scrubbed this apartment it would never be anywhere near clean. Especially not with urine soaked carpet.

Review: Never would I have moved in here! . Julie shows you one apartment with walk-in closet but then you get the dump across the way!No walk in closet! The neighbors are so noisy and complaining doesnt do any good. The pool well its nice but they got the 8 chairs out of the dumpster all the plastic is falling off so u fall thru! My electric is high and I have never used dishwasher or stove! I have area rugs everyone yes I will gwt my deposit back in about 10 long months!!!

Review Date: 7/29/2009
Review: I too am an OSU grad student and have lived very happily at Harvard Square for several years while here studying. I feel like a get a good deal for my money here. My place is not new, my AC has been down a couple times this summer but the guys are prompt about getting it fixed. I think its just old. Anyway, I watched them put in the new pool which is beautiful and because I overlook it, I can tell you all the residents here are really enjoying it now that its done. I looked at the other places in this neighborhood and for my dollars, the prices were higher for less space and the utilities were crazy. I feel like my apartment is nice and well cared for, my requests are dealt with quickly and professionally, and I get a good value for my money. I would and have recommended friends here and have gotten $$ for it. I think its a terrific deal, especially for the area.

Review Date: 7/7/2009
Review: The windows are real thin and rattle. Maintenance left our air running after coming in without notice to check it, and did not fix it, sounded like it was going to blow up, and it wasn't cheap. If you don't give 60 days notice they will ruin your life! I even went in and asked if I needed to give 30 days notice and she said no… because it is 60! Now I have to pay 699 for two months and get a refund for the partial month I move out on, so it'll be fun paying for another place, while I wait on my refund.

Review Date: 2/18/2009
Review: I have been here several years because it is the best deal, its quiet, and the maintenance guys do the best job. Look around! This place is not new and Raymond and the guys are always so friendly and busting it to get things fixed. They don't always get it the first time because some of this stuff is old but they always show up and are friendly and they get it done. As far as food getting spoiled in your fridge, you might try renters insurance. Good luck getting any landlord to pay for that. My experience is that once you tell the office something, they get it done. Get over yourselves.

Review Date: 1/1/2009
Review: I lived in Harvard Square for quite some time and everything was great until a problem occurred in my apartment. The maintenance men fixed the problem, but management did not help pay for Harvard Square’s property malfunction. First, my fridge malfunctioned during a weekend when I was on vacation. I came home to all of my food spoiled. The fridge was replaced with a used fridge the next day, but all of the food was a loss. Management wouldn’t help cover any of the costs. A few months later my gas heater malfunctioned. Maintenance tried to repair it multiple times. Throughout the week of repairs, I had a freon leak that made the entire apartment stink and an electrical space heater was provided by Harvard Square to try to keep warm. After about a week of trying to repair the gas heater, maintenance decided it was best to uninstall the heater and temporarily install an electrical heater while the gas one was being repaired. Once the outrageously high electric bill came, Harvard Square’s management refused to help pay the electric bill and stated they could only reimburse me for the flat rate gas fee I had paid and not used. The combination of these two incidences cost me well over 0. Harvard Square is not a bad place to live as long as there are no problems. Once there are problems with their equipment, you will pay, even if it is not your fault.
