Review: This place has the worst management staff of any apartment I've ever lived in. Once you move in the treat you like crap. It's all he said she said. One person will tell you one thing and another person will tell you something different. They never return phone calls. They overcharge you in rent and water. Looks great from the outside, but if you move here you'll regret it!

Review: My apartment was just robbed a few days ago with no signs of breaking and entering. I feel quite confident that the robber worked for Pillar, especially considering the key that they had on file for my apartment is apparantly missing!!!!! They are now changing their story that the computer may just not be working, because it does that sometimes, but it is probably still in there. I am nervous everytime I enter the complex now because I know they are all out for me for accusing them of having anything to do with my robbery. They have been so discustingly uncooperative in helping me find out who stole my things, to the point of changing my locks and then changing them back to the old because I would not surrender my original key because I knew they would make a copy and say that they found their missing key.
If anyone has had something similar happen to them at this complex that could help me build a case could you please contact me at kristin821@aol.com. Thank you.
P.S. The only reason my privacy lock was not locked was because I did not have a garage door opener, after putting a work order in to get a new one 2 months ago!!!

Review: I lived in Finisterra before, and there are just no words for how much better it is here.
We inspected our place (Cypress layout) from head to toe and found no evidence of mold, and so far so good; been here 4 months.
I have yet to hear my neighbors on one side. Ever. I read the reviews saying how you will hear everything from toilets flushing to cabinet doors closing: not the case with us, and I am super picky about noise levels. I was raised on 15 acres of woods, so I know Quiet.
The neighbors on the other side are a different matter, and this is no fault of the complex. Aside from soundproof walls, you cannot block the sound of an angry woman yelling at her 30-something live-in son. Management has been hugely receptive to my complaints, have replied to my emails directly, and followed up with me. There was a brief “outburst” next door just this week, and after one email the peace is again restored.
The pool and grounds are very nice and I have yet to walk around and see anything that disturbs me. People smile and say hello, I never see any obnoxious kids, and even the family across the way who runs some sort of block/wood delivery service is conscientious and quiet.
We did a once-over upon move in and every item I wanted fixed was fixed within 3 days; this even included a chip in the kitchen countertop. I’ve been nothing but impressed with the maintenance crew. Whether I email or call, they are here the next day, and leave a note if I had the privacy lock locked and they couldn’t get in.
The office staff must have changed since the reviews from 2006, or else I suddenly have lost use of my fake-people-detector. They are genuinely nice, remember me by name, and have taken care of all my issues. Put it this way: I wouldn’t mind working for them, and I avoid ‘customer service’ and teamwork like the plague. They are friendly, kind people who genuinely give a ****.
Parking is typical for an apartment complex. We can fit one car (not the truck) in our garage and one behind, and perhaps one temporarily long-ways behind that if we got creative. We had a birthday party a few weeks ago at the pool (outdoor stainless gas grills!) and our guests had no issue finding parking.
The bump going through the gate is barely noticeable, and the speedbumps are built correctly and placed where needed, not every 15 feet. If you care for your shocks or have a low-built car – check this place out.
Our average water bill is about , which is higher then we paid before, but our electric is MUCH cheaper, averaging about 0 (but we haven’t made it to August yet!). Unsure if APS is cheaper then SRP, but so far cooling/heating this 2 story with APS has been better then the single-story with SRP we moved out of.
I would recommend this complex to anyone. The only surprise we had was trying to get a king-size mattress up to the third level. We had to bend it to get it past the front door because there is a section of low ceiling. If you have a king size bedframe that does not collapse, better measure the opening or get creative.
No complaints here, from the worlds pickiest tenant.

Review: COMPLAINT ACTIVITY REPORT Case # Better Business Bureau of Central and Northern Arizona
Business Info: PILLAR AT SCOTTSDALE 17212 N. Scottsdale Rd.
Consumer’s Original Complaint : On November 9, 2006 I took my 0 transfer fee to Pillar at Desert View because I was transferring there from my current residence at Pillar at Scottsdale. I was then advised from Brandi at Desert View that Pillar at Scottsdale did NOT send over my transfer paperwork. I went directly into the office at Pillar at Scottsdale & spoke with Mario where he himself offered me a 1bdrm at the rate of 2 if I chose to stay with them (being my current residence & they have been since July 2004) he then advised me that my 0 transfer fee would be refunded back to myself or be credited to my account with Pillar at Scottsdale. As of Sunday November 26th I still hadn’t heard from anyone or received my refund. So I went directly to the front office at Pillar at Scottsdale to get this matter rectified; where again I was told by another sales agent (male agent) that my money would be refunded or credited to my account because he then himself called Desert View & spoke with Darlene and that I should hear back from someone on Monday, Nov 27th. I heard back from Rebecca at Pillar @Desert View & she advised me I was misinformed & then I got a call from Mario at Pillar@Scottsdale advising me my money would be credited and that he would get back with me the following day which would be Tuesday, November 28th (which he didn’t get back with me) to let me know the pro-rated amount for what I needed to pay the front office for my 2bdrm that would be pro-rated 12/1-12/10 (& if my 0 would be applied to this rent due) or if the pro-rate amount for my new 1bedroom for the pro-ration date of 12/8-12/31 would include the 0 applied credit. So I again called on Wednesday, November 29th & spoke with Mario yet again regarding my deposit & the pro-ration for what I owed on 12/1 or on 12/8 & he promised he would get back with me at the end of business day on Wednesday, November 29th because he would then be off for the next few days – & yet again he failed to get in touch with me! Since Mario offered me this 1bedroom it’s been nothing but problems, miscommunication on his end, and the run around on both ends for both of the communities. When Mario offered me this 1bedroom he failed to look into if 1) my apartment was already being rented out & 2) if there was a 1bedroom available for me so needless to say I was going to be out of an apartment from 11/30 – 12/8 but once I brought this to the Manager’s attention at Pillar at Scottsdale – Katie Malone she was very quick to get this resolved but I am still so upset and just feel taken advantage of because of the lack of communication on Mario’s end. I feel that I did everything on my end and it’s not my fault that I was misinformed because Mario just wanted to keep me as a resident for either a sale or whatever other motive he had at the time. I will not be paying the 0 and I will be in contact with small claims court as well as the corporate office of Pillar communities and all of the apartment listing online to rate the pillar communities and the staff particularly Mario at Pillar at Scottsdale.

Review: The Pillars adverstise that they have luxury apartment homes but a home it is not. It is still just your typical apartment complex with a luxury rental price tag. You can pretty much count on hearing everything going on at your neighbors to the left or right of you and if you are in a middle unit you will hear it from both sides. Don’t make the mistake I did thinking that a tri-level townhouse with no one below or above solves this noise polution problem. I know when my neighbors leave and come home from the time their garage door open and close. I can actually pinpoint where they are in their unit based on the fact that I can hear them flushing their toilets, closing doors and cabinets. I can even smell their cooking coming through my vents which makes me nausea most of the time. And for an extra bonus I have to wake up on their schedule, because I hear their alarm sound every morning. It is really ridiculous considering I am paying 1400.00 dollars a month. When it comes to noise population this is by far the worst complex that I have ever lived in. When I complained to Management they stated that they have never had a complaint such as this ever! Of course I am the only one having this issue right? I think not! I can actually hear my neighbors right now as I write this review. They can probably hear me typing it. Now, I am stuck in a lease that I cannot get out of and just have to deal with the noise. But for those that are apartment searching and smart enough to read reviews prior to making a decision just beware that at the Pillar at Scottsdale you will be sharing more than you probably want to with your neighbors.
