University Area Rentals
1439 N High St
Columbus, OH 43201

Review Date: 6/30/2007
Review: They started showing the apartment on a regular basis 3 months after I moved in on a 1 year lease.

The heater and water heater are so inefficient that my gas bill is 3 times what it was in my last house, which was more than 3 times bigger.

The ceiling has been falling in ever since I moves in. The maintenance guy refuses to admit there is a problem.

My vehicle has been vandalized 3 times.

Review: Don’t let the roominess of the apartments persuade you to live here!! The neighboorhood is not safe; the bar, although convienent, will prevent you from ever getting a good night’s sleep, and the maintenance is unresponsive (note: 24-hour maintenance phone line…more like 24-months; we went a week without having a door knob for the front door). It’s cheap, it’s roomy, but for the love of goodness it’s NOT worth it!!

Review: Security: After complaints for 6 months, the front door still does not lock so come on it! Doors ALWAYS open. Also, it took 4 requests for them to fix my apartment door lock as well. It’s a slighty shady neighborhood with alot of sketchy people walking around. Parking: Usually always spaces, but there is a man that will leave notes on your car or wait by your car to tell you not to park in ‘his’ spot. Appearance/Upkeep: Apartments are cute but the outside of the building could use some work to make it look livable. Management and Officed Staff: Lady in the office is nice; maintenance people don’t do anything all day and cut corners on everything possible, so again, safety is an issue. Management – on the three instances that I had to call the emergency maintenance 1) the number was out of service 2) correct number, but no one ever got back to me so I was withough electricity 3) the mailbox was full so I couldn’t leave a message so I had no heat. Condition: Older building so some things are expected. The apartment was not cleaned AT ALL when moved in (my cleaning water was black just after wiping the cupboards, cigarette ashes were everywhere, garbage in cupboards, tiles in bathroom laying around). Also, the old tenant had left belongings in closet and on porch and it took at least a month for them to dispose of it. Noise level: At this particular unit I’m by the bar, so there’s noise until 230am, along with noise of people walking around all the time, occasionally scary yelling; traffic noise from High St and alot of sirens. Overall: They aren’t good with upkeep and requests and safety concerns. They don’t address issues when brought up multiple times and don’t return phone calls. Don’t live here.

Review: These people are crooks! They never fixed my window or my front door locks. My electricity went off repeatedly with no explanation. Worst of all, when I moved out and didn’t want to take some of my furniture, I asked the people in the rental office if they wanted it. I made sure to ask if I could just leave it in the apartment and they said yes. Then, they turned around and charged me a 0 fee for leaving things in the apartment AFTER they took the furniture! DO NOT RENT WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Review: Small apartment, but affordable. Nice size closets. No eatting area. Drafty door. Lease does not allow any pictures to be nailed into wall.
